Budgetaris is built by finance people who got tired of spreadsheets
Every company we meet has the same story somewhere in its past: a budget that took four months to build, a forecast that was wrong by March, and a finance team held hostage by workbooks named "Board_v12_FINAL_real". Budgetaris started when our founders — a former FP&A director and a software engineer — compared notes after two separate painful planning cycles and decided the problem was not the people. It was the tool.
That was the beginning of a simple thesis: planning is deep, structured work, and it deserves a real application, not a grid of cells held together by hope. We set out to build the tool we wished existed when we were the ones reconciling other people's spreadsheets at midnight before the board meeting.

Where we are today
Budgetaris Inc. is a private company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, with a fully remote product and support team across the United States. We serve B2B companies from twenty-person startups to multinational groups, across software, manufacturing, distribution, professional services, healthcare and nonprofit sectors. The product is used by finance teams, controllers and CFOs who plan in US dollars and report to boards that expect rigor.
We remain deliberately independent and deliberately focused. Budgetaris does one thing — planning, budgeting and forecasting — and we intend to keep doing that one thing exceptionally well rather than expanding into accounting software and becoming mediocre at everything.
Our mission
Our mission is to make world-class financial planning practical for every B2B company, not just enterprises with a ten-person FP&A team. We believe a credible plan is a strategic weapon: it turns guesswork into choices, aligns the leadership team, and makes capital allocation something the company does on purpose. Software that costs less than one junior analyst and saves a planning cycle a year is, in our view, the easiest ROI decision a finance leader can make.
How we work
Customers first. The roadmap is written from customer conversations. The features on our features page that matter most — narratives on variances, driver libraries, the desktop experience itself — all began as requests from finance teams who told us what their day actually looked like.
Honest software. We do not hide pricing behind sales calls, we do not lock your data in, and we say no to feature requests when the honest answer is that they belong in a different tool. Our pricing page and refund policy are written in plain language on purpose.
Deep work matters. The desktop-first design is a value, not an accident. We believe the most important financial thinking in a company deserves a tool that is fast, focused and works offline — not a tab among forty.
Security is a product feature. For a company that handles board-level plans and salary data, trust is the license to operate. The controls on our security page are reviewed by every new customer and audited every year by independent firms.
Our values
- Clarity over complexity. If a model cannot be explained to the board in one page, it is not finished.
- Respect for the planner. Department owners who submit budgets are not data entry clerks; the tool should make their input valuable, not painful.
- Ownership. Every number should have an owner, a timestamp and a reason.
- Straight talk. We tell customers what the product does not do, before they discover it later.
- Craft. We are building a tool for professionals; it should feel like one.
Leadership
Budgetaris is led by a small team of operators. The company was founded by Maya Okafor, formerly VP of FP&A at a Denver-based B2B software company, and Daniel Reyes, a software engineer with a background in offline-first applications. The product team includes former controllers and FP&A managers from B2B companies, which keeps our templates honest — they are built by people who have run the processes the templates support.
